The project is part of a strategic partnership with the Mauritanian government and is part of the country&#8217;s national hydrogen strategy. The aim is to provide competitive green molecules for international customer markets based on excellent wind and solar resources and thus contribute to the decarbonization of energy-intensive industries.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><div class=\"w-separator size_small\"><\/div><div class=\"wpb_text_column\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><h3><b>Key data on the NAYRAH project<\/b><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Large-scale modular power-to-X project developed in Mauritania<\/li>\n<li>Start with a first fast-track module with an <strong data-start=\"2064\" data-end=\"2094\">electrolysis capacity<\/strong> of around <strong data-start=\"2064\" data-end=\"2094\">100 MW<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Expansion to initially <strong data-start=\"2136\" data-end=\"2165\">1 GW electrolysis capacity<\/strong>, followed by further scaling<\/li>\n<li>Target production of up to <strong data-start=\"2196\" data-end=\"2233\">140,000 tons of green hydrogen<\/strong> per year<\/li>\n<li>Up to an additional <strong data-start=\"2265\" data-end=\"2299\">400,000 tons of green ammonia<\/strong> annually<\/li>\n<li>Planned start of production from <strong data-start=\"2344\" data-end=\"2352\">2029<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Secured project area of initially around <strong data-start=\"2389\" data-end=\"2400\">500 km\u00b2<\/strong>, with potential for expansion to around <strong data-start=\"2437\" data-end=\"2450\">1,600 km\u00b2<\/strong> in the full expansion stage<\/li>\n<li>Integrated concept for <strong data-start=\"2503\" data-end=\"2527\">seawater desalination<\/strong> for sustainable water supply<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Special features<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-start=\"2629\" data-end=\"2771\"><strong data-start=\"2631\" data-end=\"2659\">Modular project approach:<\/strong> Nayrah is being developed in stages and can be flexibly adapted to market and infrastructure developments.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2772\" data-end=\"2960\"><strong data-start=\"2774\" data-end=\"2812\">Excellent site conditions:<\/strong> The area east of Nouadhibou offers exceptionally good wind and solar conditions for the economic production of renewable energy.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2961\" data-end=\"3197\"><strong data-start=\"2963\" data-end=\"3005\">Holistic sustainability concept:<\/strong> In addition to the production of green molecules, the project includes solutions for water- and soil-conserving development, including desalination and the potential use of regenerative by-products.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"3198\" data-end=\"3452\"><strong data-start=\"3200\" data-end=\"3243\">Strategic international involvement:<\/strong> The project was launched as part of high-level political and economic cooperation between Mauritania, Germany and European partners.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Target markets &amp; benefits<\/b><\/p>\n<p>With <strong>NAYRAH<\/strong>, M\u00f6hring Energie is addressing the growing demand for green hydrogen and green ammonia in Europe in particular. The products are suitable as climate-friendly energy sources and raw materials for industries such as steel, chemicals, fertilizers and shipping. At the same time, the project strengthens the emerging energy partnership between Europe and Northwest Africa and supports the development of resilient, long-term supply chains for green molecules  <\/p>\n<p><b>Role of M\u00f6hring Energy<\/b><\/p>\n<p>M\u00f6hring Energie is developing <strong>NAYRAH<\/strong> as a strategic international Power-to-X project together with state and local partners in Mauritania. The company is responsible for project development, from land and structural development to technical design and the preparation of investment, partner and offtake structures.
