The signing ceremony took place in the Mauritanian capital Nouakchott &#8211; by His Excellency Mohamed Ould Khaled, Minister of Petroleum and Energy of Mauritania, and Sascha M\u00f6hring, founder and CTO of M\u00f6hring Energie Group. <\/p>\n<p data-start=\"822\" data-end=\"1370\">The contract is a significant milestone in the implementation of Mauritania&#8217;s hydrogen program, the so-called <em data-start=\"940\" data-end=\"955\">Hydrogen Code<\/em>, and paves the way for the <strong data-start=\"991\" data-end=\"1001\">NAYRAH<\/strong> project &#8211; a modular, industrial power-to-X project by M\u00f6hring Energie, which is to be gradually expanded to an electrolysis capacity of 1 GW. The aim is to produce up to 140,000 tons of green hydrogen and 400,000 tons of green ammonia annually for export to European markets. Production is scheduled to start in 2029. The framework agreement is linked to a land allocation for the project with an area of approximately 500 km2 in the area west of Nouadhibou, with a potential expansion of ~1,600 km2 for the full expansion stage, in a terrain that probably offers the best solar and wind conditions for the production of renewable energies (PV &amp; wind) and thus also green molecules worldwide.   <\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1372\" data-end=\"1429\">A strategic PtX project with a modular structure<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1431\" data-end=\"1806\">The NAYRAH project is planned as a sustainable, scalable industrial cluster in southern Mauritania, where excellent wind and solar conditions coincide. The project will be implemented in several expansion stages &#8211; starting with an initial electrolysis capacity of around 100 MW as a so-called &#8220;fast-track module&#8221;, followed by an accelerated expansion to up to 1 GW. <\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1808\" data-end=\"2148\">In addition to green molecule production, M\u00f6hring Energie is focusing in particular on water- and soil-friendly solutions: An integrated concept for seawater desalination and the option of using regenerative by-products in agriculture (such as for local protein crops or CO\u2082-based e-fuels) are part of the development strategy.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"2150\" data-end=\"2208\">International support and political monitoring<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"2210\" data-end=\"2672\">The signing of the agreement was accompanied by a high-ranking German delegation led by Christoph Rauh, Africa Director at the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The German and EU ambassadors to Mauritania and the Mauritanian ambassador to Germany were also present &#8211; a clear signal of the growing international cooperation in the field of green energy. <\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2210\" data-end=\"2672\">Sascha M\u00f6hring<span style=\"font-size: 1.3rem; letter-spacing: 0.01em;\">, CTO and founder of M\u00f6hring Energie Group: <\/span><em data-start=\"2728\" data-end=\"3185\">&#8220;We are proud to be the first German company to enter into a strategic partnership with Mauritania to develop a large-scale PtX project.
