Project description
NexTerra is one of the most ambitious Power-to-X projects in North Africa – developed by Möhring Energie in strategic partnership with local stakeholders in Morocco. The project aims to produce large volumes of green hydrogen and green derivatives for export to energy-intensive EU markets – as a contribution to industrial decarbonization.
Key data (planning status)
- Approximately 20 GW of installed solar and wind energy capacity
- Multi-stage, modular electrolysis system for green hydrogen with a final capacity of 10 GW
- Seawater desalination for H₂ production powered entirely by renewable energy
- Ammonia & methanol synthesis for the production of transportable energy sources
- Modular, expandable storage systems (BESS) for grid stabilization
- Export infrastructure with proximity to a port for ship connections

Role of Möhring Energy
Möhring Energie is responsible for the complete project development at NexTerra – from site development, permitting and technical design to investor and partner structuring. Project implementation is carried out with strong local expertise through the subsidiary Möhring Energie Maroc.
